Enhancing Assessment Literacy of Teachers in Primary/Secondary Schools (2020-21)

The Faculty of Education of the University of Hong Kong has been commissioned by the Education Bureau to launch the Quality Education Fund Thematic Network-Tertiary Institutes (QTN-T) project “Enhancing Assessment Literacy of Teachers in Primary/Secondary Schools” (2020−2021). This QTN-T project aims to enhance teachers’ assessment literacy in English language teaching. Three primary schools and three secondary schools are involved in the project and have gained insights into the design and implementation of different types of assessment through (1) attending professional development workshops; (2) collaborating with the project team in designing a package of English teaching and learning materials; and (3) adopting various e-learning tools to effectively facilitate learning, teaching and assessment, particularly assessment for learning (AfL) and assessment as learning (AaL).

Target participants: In-service primary and secondary English Language teachers in Hong Kong

This public seminar will provide an overview of the QTN-T project “Enhancing Assessment Literacy of Teachers in Primary/Secondary Schools” (2020−2021), introducing the key concepts related to different types of assessment and how to align assessment to learning and teaching.  Two participating schools, SKH Yuen Chen Maun Chen Jubilee Primary School and PLK Lee Shing Pik College will share their experiences of joining the project and their experience with package design and trying out of different assessment strategies.
